Sarah^[1][2] was born on 7 or 17 October 1726 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania,^[3] the oldest of five known children and two daughters of John and Mary Winsor Stevens.

On 20 December 1745, when she was nineteen, she married David Morgan, the son of Col. Morgan and Catherine Garretson Morgan on 20 Dec 1745 in Frederick County, Virginia.^[4] She bore him nine known children, six boys and three girls.

About 1770 they moved to the Monongahela Valley and eventually settled on the Monongahela River just above Prickett's Fort north of present-day Fairmont, Marion County, West Virginia.

Sarah died on 15 May 1797 in Rivesville, Monongalia County, Virginia.

At the age of 78, her husband, David Morgan, carved the headstone for her grave. They had been married 54 years. He also carved his own, which was put to use fourteen years later.

She is buried in the David Morgan Cemetery at Fairmont.

At the age of 78, David Morgan carved this headstone for his wife of 54 years. He also carved his own, which was put to use 14 years later. (Unfortunately it was raining cats n dogs the day we went to take photographs, so very little shows up on this picture!)
