Luciano Gennaro, the son of Michelangelo Gennaro and Angela Pennino, is born and baptized on 8 October 1830. His godparents are Antonino Maniscalco and his wife Nicolina.[1]
Luciano marries Lucia Cascio on 5 June 1853. His parents are both still living at this time.
Luciano and his wife are identified as villico, farmers, in a civil record of their daughter's baptism written when she marries in 1881.
Luciano and Lucia have eight known children, all born in Corleone: Angela (1854), Carmela (1856), Rosa (1858), Maria Antonia (1860), two daughters named Giovanna (1862 and 1872), Michelangelo (1864), and Stefano (1877).
Angela, named after her paternal grandmother, is born 15 April 1854 and baptized the next day. She is the daughter of Luciano Gennaro and Lucia Cascio. Her godparents are Joannes Labruzzo and Maria Grizzaffi.
Carmela, named after her maternal grandmother, is born and baptized 26 February 1856. Her godparents are Theodorus Lisotta and Francisca Maggiore, a married couple.
Rosa is born 12 July 1858 and baptized Rosam the next day. Her godmother is Maria Carmela Gennaro, unmarried daughter of Michaelangeli.
Maria Antonia is born 13 March 1860, according to the civil record of her baptism, included with her 1881 marriage publication. Maria Antonia marries Francesco Cascio; their daughter, Lucia, shares both first and last name with her maternal grandmother.
The first daughter named Giovanna is born and baptized Joannam on 21 December 1862. Her godfather is the unmarried Marianus Cascio, Lucia's brother. Giovanna is presumed to have died some time before 1872, when her sister is born.
Michelangelo, named after his paternal grandfather, is born on 18 December 1864 in his parents' home in via S. Elena, Corleone. The midwife, Francesca Paola De Luca, age 59, reports his birth, and his parents' ages: Lucia is 28 (b. 1836), and Luciano is 35 (b. 1829). He is baptized the same day as Michalangelum. His godparents are Vincenzo Guarino and Anna Maria Ligotino, a married couple.
The second daughter named Giovanna is born 3 January 1872 and baptized Joannam the next day. Her godfather is the unmarried Salvatore Cascio the son of Lucia's brother, Marco.
Angela marries Luciano Jannazzo, her first cousin, on 8 September 1872 in Corleone. It is the first marriage for either of them. Their Church marriage is dated the following day. Rosalia Cascio, Luciano Janazzo's mother, is Lucia's sister.
Carmela dies at age 20 (b. 1856) on 1 March 1876. She is unmarried.
Rosa marries Giovanni Cascio on 19 November 1877.
Maria Antonia marries Francesco Cascio, Giovanni's brother, on 31 October 1881. Because of the 1877 marriage, and/or because Francesco and Lucia are first cousins, once removed, this marriage includes a dispensation due to consanguinity. Her parents are still living at this time.
Stefano dies on 27 May 1880 at three years of age.
Michelangelo marries Biagia Jovino in 1884, at age 19. Although both his parents are farmers, Michelangelo is called a borgese in the marriage notice published on 18 October 1884.
The surviving daughter named Giovanna (b. 1872) marries Giovanni Scalisi on 25 February 1889, when she is sixteen.
Maria Antonia dies at age 30 (b. 1860) on 3 May 1890. Her husband and parents all survive her.
