Biography

Mariano Cascio is born in via S. Elena, Corleone, on 4 August 1838, the son of Stefano Cascio, age 48 (b. 1790), agricola, and Carmela Streva, age 40 (b. 1798). He is baptized the same day. His godparents are Nicolo' and Maria Ciravolo, a married couple.

His baptism appears in the church matrimonial records for 1871, Corleone. On this certificate, his last name is recorded as lo Cascio. Francesca Paola Piazza's baptismal record does not appear with Mariano's in the church records, but from the civil record, we know Mariano marries her on 24 November 1871. They marry in the Church two days later. It is the first marriage for either of them. Mariano's father has died, and his mother is living.

Mariano and Francesca Paola have at least one child, Maria Carmela (1875), who dies at two days of age on 19 October. Francesca Paola dies on 31 October at age 34.
