Biography

Frederick was born in 1825 in Herring Cove, Halifax County, Nova Scotia to Archibald Darrach and Ellen King, and was baptised July 4th 1825 at St. Matthew's Presbyterian Church in Halifax.^[1]

He was a fisherman.

In 1848, Frederick bought shoreline property on the west side of Herring Cove for 62 pounds 10 shillings.^[2]

In 1857, Frederick and his brother Archibald Darrach Jr. jointly bought a lot on the east side of Herring Cove from Jeffrey Power and Jane (Fitzgerald) Power for 65 pounds.^[3]

Frederick married Margaret Munro on an unknown date about 1860. They had 10 known children together in Herring Cove.

Frederick and Margaret were named along with all of Frederick's living siblings and their spouses on an 1881 deed for sale of property in Herring Cove that they had inherited from their mother Ellen after she had died intestate in 1880.^[4]

Frederick passed away in 1908, and is buried in St. James Anglican Cemetery in Herring Cove.^[5]
