I graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Dalhousie University in Halifax. (It seemed like a good idea at the time!)
I have lived in Oshawa, Ontario since 1999. I work in operations for a financial institution where I have been employed since 2001.
Advance Directive
In the event of my death or incapacity to continue on WikiTree, any open profiles I manage can be orphaned and adopted by any interested member. Almost every profile I manage is open; as of July 2023 only my own profile and my mother's are private.

First-hand information. Entered by Matthew Sullivan.
Paternal relationship is confirmed by an AncestryDNA test match between Matthew Sullivan and his second cousin J.F., a granddaughter of James C. Sullivan. Their most-recent common ancestors are their great grandparents, Leonard M. Sullivan) and Mary M. Brackett. Predicted relationship from AncestryDNA: 2nd Cousins, based on sharing 262 cM across 11 segments. Note that Matthew Sullivan and J.F. are also further related as fifth cousins via common ancestors Jeffery Power and Anastasia Quilty, as well as likely 5th cousins once removed via common ancestors Henry Latter and Catherine McLean. However, the calculated Coefficient of Relationship for this pair of 0.03198 is versus a Second-Cousin-only Coefficient of 0.03125, so the Second Cousin relationship confidence remains high due to the amount of shared DNA.
Maternal relationship is confirmed by an AncestryDNA test match between Matthew Sullivan and his maternal aunt. The most-recent common ancestors are Matthew Sullivan's maternal grandparents, Lester J. Burke and Florence E. Pottie, who are the parents of his aunt. Predicted relationship from AncestryDNA: "Close Family to 1st Cousin", based on 1,541 cM (22%) of shared DNA across 43 segments.
Maternal relationship is confirmed by a mtDNA match (HVR1, HVR2, Coding Regions) between this Family Tree DNA mtDNA test for Roland Arsenault and this Family Tree DNA mtDNA test of his maternal line cousin Matthew Sullivan. The match is at Genetic Distance = 1, differing in a position in HVR1 at 16093C, a known "hot spot" with a high mutation rate. This is consistent with Roland and Matthew being 10th cousins once removed with common matrilineal ancestor Jeanne Thériot (abt.1643-1726).

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
When you are ready to start confirming that your DNA matches correspond with your genealogy sources, be sure to follow the guidance at the DNA Confirmation help page. Also try out the DNA Confirmation Citation Maker, it can simplify the job.
