Joseph Williams is a descendant of an Acadian

Joseph was born on May 31, 1822 in Memramcook, New Brunswick[1][2], the son of Jean Baptiste Williams and Helene Bellefontaine.

He married Marguerite Cormier on January 23, 1849 in Bouctouche, New Brunswick[3][4]. Children of Joseph Williams dit Bristol and Marguerite Cormier:

In the 1861 Census, Joseph was living with his wife and 3 children in Dundas, Kent county, New Brunswick.[5] Joseph was working as a farmer and his children were in school.

In the 1871 Census, Joseph was living with his wife and 9 children in Dundas.[6] Here their surname was written as "Guillaume" which is French for William. The census shows that he and Marguerite were born in New Brunswick, their religion was Catholic, and they were of French origin. His profession was now teacher and it also notes that Marguerite was unable to read or write. Henriette and Fidele were working as a day labourer and farmer.

In the 1881 Census, Joseph was living with his wife and 5 children in Dundas, working as a teacher.[7]

In the 1891 Census, Joseph was living with his wife and daughter Marie Genevieve in Dundas, working as a teacher.[8] His son Joseph was living at the same address with his family.

In the 1901 Census, Joseph was 79 years old and widowed, still employed as a teacher.[9]

He died November 17, 1910 in Cocagne at the age of 88 of "general debility" (old age)[10].
