Alie Ruff began her journey into genealogy research in an attempt to identify the parents of her paternal grandfather, "Don" Maxwell Hilliard Ruff (1909-abt.1985), who'd been told he was an adopted child. After finding a copy of his birth certificate, a 100 year old family secret was revealed and led to the discovery of a fascinating group of ancestors that she never knew she had.
I will be the first to admit that I make mistakes. I do try my best not to post inaccurate information, and to research thoroughly. Once I am aware that there has been an error, or new information comes to light that changes the narratives of the profiles I manage, I will update and/or correct the information in a timely manner. This being said, I'm sure that some will get past me none the less. I welcome and encourage input, and look at it as an opportunity to learn and to get as close to the facts as I can.
This Tree Is A Work In Progress. Check back for occasional updates. Please contact me if you see any need for major revisions, prior to altering profiles that I manage, to allow for an opportunity to exchange information and compare notes. If the corrections/alterations are minor, or you are adding sources or a branch to the profile, no contact is necessary, but always appreciated. Thank you!
"The dead are not coming back, and in that sense, they do not belong to us anymore. Yet they lived among us once, and their lives — including both the good and the bad things they may have done — are intimately intertwined with our own stories and identities. The truth about what they did or didn’t do, how they treated us or others may, in a deep sense, be our own — living — truth."
"What Do We Owe the Dead?" by Iskra Fileva, assistant professor of philosophy at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
