Biography

This profile is part of the Blanchard Name Study.

According to Blanchard Family records written in 1879, William Blanchard was born on May 5, 1752, in Ashford, Connecticut. Town Marriage Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection) lists his birthdate as May 10, 1751; in Ashford, Connecticut, and that he was the son of Phebe Bacon and William Blancher/Blanchard, who were married Nov. 8, 1750.[1]

William Blanchard married Prudence Shumway on March 10, 1771, in Sturbridge, Massachusetts.[2][3] They had five children during their marriage.

"In 1773, William and Prudence (Shumway) Blanchard family arrived in Brookfield from nearby Sturbridge bringing the first of five children with them, their infant son Amasa."[4]

He died on December 24, 1824, in Brookfield, Massachusetts, at the age of 72, and was buried there[5]
