Peter Manson was born on December 24, 1733, in Prince George County, Virginia[1][2] to John Manson and Mrs. Martha Pegram Lewis.[3][4] He was baptized December 30, 1733.[5]
Peter Manson married Susanna Hardaway about 1756[1][6] in Dinwiddie County, Virginia.[3] They had several children, including Hardaway, Peter, John,[1][7] Mary,[8] and Thomas, born about 1757.[9]
On November 2, 1789, "Peter Manson of the County of Dinwiddie of the one part & Thomas Manson of the County of Brunswick of the other part . . . that the said Peter Manson for the fatherly love & affection which he beareth towards his son Thomas and for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings . . . do give grant bargain & sell unto the said Thomas Manson one certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Brunswick on the waters of Mountain Branch and Ceeder Creek ..."[14]
Peter died before November 18, 1793 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia[1] (November is likely the probate date; another record has death as (p) April 1793, which could be the date of the will).

The dad of this Peter Manson, born 1733, is John Manson, born 1702, who is said by some to be the brother of Peter Manson, Jr. born 1697.[19][20]
Peter Manson born 1697 (as Junior) is the dad of Peter Manson Jr., born December 4, 1737. The Peter Manson born 1697 married Hannah Kerby on April 22, 1725[21] (see this Ancestry page and JSTOR: "Kerby Family of York & Elizabeth City Cos., Virginia," The William and Mary Quarterly, Vol. 14, No. 3 (Jan., 1906), pp. 154-158 (Hannah m Peter, page 155). Published by: Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture). For Peter & Hannah (Kerby) Manson's children, see Family Records (another JSTOR link; page 155). See also this USGenWeb bio, which includes:
"Mr. G. M. Hobbs, of Cincinnati, Ohio, who is descended from this family, furnished some data about Peter Manson, who was born in August, 1697, and married Hannah Kerby, April 22, 1725. Peter was evidently a grandson of Richard, and seems to have been identified with Virginia. His children were: Mary, born November 3, 1726; John, born September 5, 1728; Frances, born May 18, 1735; Peter, Jr., born December 4, 1737; Hannah, Jr., born January 21, 1741; and Robert, born August 17, 1748. Peter Manson's wife Hannah died December 8, 1754, and, less than two months later, he also died, on February 1G, 1755. Peter, Jr., died December 8, 1751, being only twenty years old. John died at the age of ten."
Notes for Peter Manson: WFT 2 Tree # 3591
There are a series of Peter Mansons that have to be connected genealogically that extend from Peter Manson who immigrated to Maryland in May 1661 and demanded 150 acres of Maryland for "transporting himself, his wife and son", to several Peter Mansons posted in census data from 1789 to the 1800's. It has not been determined yet if these are all related but we're working on it.
Sabra Sturt Russell notes that Captain Peter Manson was in the Dinwiddie Militia and is documented in the County Minute Book 2.
Information on DAR Application #533330 of Mary Lucille Collier notes under services performed that Captain Peter Manson was a Captain in the Dinwiddie County Militia and in the referenced Dinwiddie County Court Booklet, Page 2, for Court held March 19, 1782 names:
"Captain Peter Manson, Military Officer" and lists supplies furnished by him:
To Captain Peter Manson for 156 lbs. bacon 6c per lb.

↑ Hardaway-9 had Thomas as son of Peter & Susan/Susannah (Hardaway) Manson and Susan's death as 1764.
↑ another record had 1764/1765, and DAR records show that son Peter was born about 1765 to Peter and his first wife, m c. 1756. A note on the record states that Susanna Hardaway was "mother of previously proven children" (Hardaway, Peter, John).

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Peter by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Peter:

Hi Brent & John - I just added a profile for Peter's father John (Manson-416. Send me a trusted list request from it & I'll add y'all. If you'd also like to be a Profile Manager, let me know when you send the request. Cheers, Liz (P.S. I proposed a merge of Manson-17 & Manson-39 -- John with dau. Jane -- but couldn't tell if that John was the father of Peter b 1733 too.)
