Hardaway was born about 1765. This Hardaway Manson as the father of the younger Hardaway Manson is a conjecture based on time, places, ages and especially the name. Any help with this as far as other sources and information would be appreciated.
Hardaway was appointed guardian of Martha E Davis in Dinwiddie County Virginia. A lawsuit occurred and it appears Hardaway passed away sometime between after October 1806 the date he was appointed and 4 SEP 1807, the date the case came to trial. Found in the book cited below, Virginia Reports. The question then is why he is still in the 1810 Census if he, indeed, passed away sometime between Oct 1806 and Sep 1807?
Interestingly, the 1810 Census of Dinwiddie County VA was taken by Assistant Marshal Benjamin Hardaway as evidenced by the first page or two of the census.

* Note: Information in DAR records should be collaborated. Although the main records were reviewed prior to being added to the DAR-grs (check the record for flags), the descendant records were not and are often inaccurate. WikiTree does not consider DAR (or other heritage societies) to be a reliable source for pre-1700 profiles (and the US Southern Colonies Project extends that to pre-1776 profiles; see the project's Reliable Sources page). Also note that DAR records only include children (and their mother/s) with a descendant who joined the DAR; most colonial families were larger than indicated by DAR records.
