Biography
Ernest William Armistead is a part of US Black heritage.
Ernest William was born in 1889. He was the son of Sandy Armstead and Lou Armistead.
In the 1900 census Ernest (age 14), Farm Hand, was the son of Lou Armstead in Justice Precinct 1, Hays, Texas.[1]
In the 1910 census Ernest (age 24), Laborer, was the married head of household in San Marcos Ward 2, Hays, Texas, United States. He was living with wife Lottie and an infant daughter.[2]
Earnest married Alberta Dobbins on 2 December 1916 in Hays, Texas, United States.[3]
In the 1920 census Earnest (age 30), Labor, was the married head of household in San Marcos, Hays, Texas. He was living with wife Alberta and two daughters from his previous marriage.[4]
In the 1930 census E (age 43), Stock Keeper, was the married head of household at 316 Center St, San Marcos, Hays, Texas, United States. He was living with wife Alberta, two daughter and a son.[5]
In the 1940 census Ernest (age 50), Porter, was the married head of household in San Marcos, Hays, Texas. He was living with wife Alberta and one son.[6]
Ernest, son of Sandy Arnstead & Lou Franklin, died (age 75) on 15 August 1964 in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas, United States.[7] According to his death certificate he was buried in the San Marcos Colored Cemetery.
