I am a member of the Jamestown Society by descent from Abraham Iverson. WikiTree shows that I am a descendant of Jamestowne Qualifying Ancestor Edward Bennett, but the Society's registrar has ruled that uncertain. I am a native Southerner, and I am just interested in the Southern Colonies Project.

I’m the Southern who deems it necessary to capitalize “South/Southern” in writing, so that’s one reason this tag interests me. Yet, by all indications, my familial lineages, both paternal & maternal were present before and during the Southern colonial period. I hope that in adding this tag, I may add newfound information to my evolving knowledge of my own family history. In addition, I hope that my own expansive, personal knowledge of the South and its history may be of use to others. I am Pre-1

My entire paternal family settled throughout the southern colonies. An English line of Cavaliers were in Virginia in the 1600s. A line of Ulster-Scot nonconformists came to South Carolina in 1734 and some of them went on to Georgia and founded Liberty County. I also have Huguenot ancestors who came to Virginia and later settled in North Carolina.
