Biography

Kevin Guy Campbell is a member of Clan Campbell.
Kevin Guy Campbell is a descendant of a Mayflower Passenger.

I have been working on my Family Tree since the late 70's. First doing it by hand using Family Group Sheets and Pedigrees, then to Family Tree Maker and finally to Ancestry. So most of my Family Trees are on Ancestry (links below) and I am in the process of adding to WikiTree.

Ancestry
Ancestry Profile
Campbells of LaPorte County, IN
Campbells of Claiborne County, TN
Gilbert Campbell of Augusta County, VA

DNA\Genealogy
In an effort to breakdown my brick walls I have done YDNA, Autosomal and Mitochondrial DNA testing. My main focus is on YDNA testing in order to figure out who were the parents of Charles Campbell, my surname brickwall b: 1785 in KY (where in KY and who his parents is unknown) d: 1854 in LaPorte County, Indiana.

I completed a Big Y-700 test (FTDNA kit #58598) a couple of years ago and was assigned haplogroup R-BY169322. A new Big Y-700 test came in early 2022 from a tester descended from Gilbert Campbell, b: 1700 and d: 1750 in Augusta now Rockbridge County Virginia. The results of this test shows that the Campbells of LaPorte County, IN and the Campbells of Claiborne County, TN share a common ancestor with Gilbert Campbell of Augusta/Rockbridge County, VA or with one of his descendants.

Haplogroup R-FT357997

Looking for male Campbell descendants of Gilbert to complete YDNA testing to further refine the test results.

Group 1 = Campbells of LaPorte County, Indiana
Group 2 = Campbell of Claiborne County, Tennessee
Group 3 = Gilbert Campbell Branch

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Kevin Guy or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree: Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:
  • Kevin Guy Campbell: Family Tree DNA mtDNA Test Full Sequence, haplogroup H1e1a, FTDNA kit #58598
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Kevin Guy:

My ancestor was Hugh Argyle Campbell (1744-1810). could this be the same Hugh Campbell you entered? I have all info about him. George Campbell

Are you referring to Hugh Campbell-8679 (1714-1774) of the North River Campbells that I have been working on the last couple of days? He did have a son Huugh Jr b: abt 1741 but I have not done any work on him except adding a purchase of land from John Seawright. Do you have more details on Hugh Argyle Campbell (1744-1810)? Is there a profile on WikiTree? Additionally have you done a YDNA test? Please feel free to send me a private message so we can try to figure this out via email.

Hi Cousin Kevin,

Welcome to WikiTree and DNA.

My name is John Kingman. I am a Coordinator with the WikiTree DNA Project.

Since you have started following a DNA tag, you may be interested in how DNA test matches with your relatives can be used to supplement your genealogy on WikiTree. You will find the answers in the Help pages, of which the DNA Help category page shows all the DNA help that is available, and the How to Get Started with DNA page is highlighted. Also the DNA Features page can show you various ways that DNA tests can work with your genealogy.

You may see some relatives show up in your list of "DNA Connections" on your profile if they have added a DNA test to their profile. These DNA Connections are possible DNA test matches, they are not sufficient for marking parental relationships as "confirmed with DNA" without providing a DNA Confirmation source citation providing details of the DNA match.

When you are ready to start documenting that your genealogy sources are confirmed by DNA test matches, be sure to follow the guidance at the DNA Confirmation help page. Also, please try out the DNA Confirmation Citation Maker, I strongly recommend it for creating and/or validating your DNA confirmation source citations. A profile should not be marked "confirmed with DNA" without source citations for both genealogy and DNA test matching.

If you have questions or need assistance, feel free to ask on the G2G Forum using the Tag "DNA" and/or "DNA_Confirmation".

Happy hunting!

John Kingman
