Ruth, on the profile of Jacob Vandergrift, you've included a research note in the narrative concerning the maiden name of his wife, currently represented by the profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Walton-7728 -- she needs her last name at birth changed to Wharton. Another wikitree posted a comment on Walton-7728 requesting the same thing. The profile manager of Walton-7728 has not been active on WikiTree since 2021. Dear Ruth,

We hope you are enjoying your time in the Orphan Trail Team; even if you are currently taking a Pause or waiting to be buddied up with a Trailblazer. We are pleased that you decided to join us and on behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve English profiles!

We are looking forward to you joining one of our other collaborative and energetic teams once you complete the Trail.

I'd also like to share our annual Newsletter with you. You can read it here: England Project Newsletters. We hope you enjoy reading a bit about what has gone on in 2022 and what our Project has achieved.

The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members every 6 months just to make sure everything is going well. There's no need to reply to this message unless you have something you'd like to let us know about (e.g. if you would like to provide us with feedback about the Trail or the project). We will be in touch with you again in the middle of next year when we do our annual check-in with project members.

On behalf of all the Leaders, I wish you a peaceful and productive 2023.

Best wishes,

Susie, England Project Leader

Hi RW,

On behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for all your contributions towards the project's goals over the past year. Every English profile we improve helps!

The England Project Leaders are currently doing our six-monthly check-in with all project members.

Are you happy to with your current project team choices? Are there other teams you would like to join or become more active in?

We also welcome any feedback on things you would like to see the project do more of in the future.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.

Many thanks!

Ian, England Project Leader

Hi Ian,

Thank you for asking.

I am exceedingly happy with the England Project team, the Orphan Trail and my Orphan TrailBlazer Gillian. I am currently on the next to the last profile of the Trail. I will likely remain a part of the team after I ‘graduate’ to apply my new skills on my English Grandfather’s line.

Afterwards, I will switch over to America and work Orphan Trail(s) for the US side of my family to break past some current dead ends. At some point, I’ll be hopping back over the ocean on my various Scot-Irish lines and my Dutch line (known to begin in New Netherlands).

I absolutely love WikiTree! I was skeptical when I first ran across it years ago, but after watching the 4 part Intro Videos on YouTube (‘Welcome to WikiTree Series” by Leanne Cooper) I have been absolutely sold on the concept of a collaborative tree. The guardrails of an Honor Code, highly involved ‘senior’ fellow WikiTree’ers, the G2G, etc, are awesome.

On paid, or even free sites, a genealogist who doesn’t have a family member interested in continuing the work WikiTree is a MUST. Behind a paywall work is just ‘poof’ gone or stopped. All genealogists should think about what will happen to their years of work when they can no longer continue it.

Hi RW

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand this Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Hi again RW,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Debi
