Clarify DAR ancestor criteria

Hi

My ancestor Asa Leete (Leete-141) is another New Hampshire patriot.  

I'm confused about how to identify him.  May I list the DAR (Daughters of American Revolution)  ancestor number? If I discover he's also been claimed by the SAR (Sons of the American Revolution), can I list that as well?

Before you start adding categories and templates, how about writing a biography that describes his Revolutionary War service?

I recall that the DAR doesn't allow us to use a template to mark people as DAR patriot ancestors. However, it's OK to cite DAR database entries as sources. There is a DAR source template to expedite sourcing, but I can't find it at the moment.

Hi Janine, Thanks for asking!  I added the DAR and SAR info to Asa's profile.  Also added son Asa, Jr. that was a private and has an SAR file. The correct DAR citation in the Sources section is:

{{DAR-grs|A068821|Asa Leet|February 22, 2017}}

That includes the patriot's A number, name and the date the file was used as a Source.

The DAR does not want to appear connected to WikiTree, so we can not use the DAR database info anywhere, except in the the Sources section of any profile where the database is a source for information. Kitty
