Is DAR recognized like SAR?

My 5th great grandfather, William Herndon, was in the Revolutionary War. I was looking for a sticker for his page and there is a sticker for a SAR recognized Patriot, but not a DAR. He is recognized by DAR as a Revolutionary War Patriot. Is DAR not recognized or as valid as SAR? I can't imagine they would be that different in their research to qualify a member.

EDITED TO ADD: I did find that he is also recognized as by SAR, but my question is still the same as above.

Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for.

There are problems with the research of both societies as the sources submitted have not always been primary or even secondary. However, the reason there is no sticker for the DAR is because the DAR is very strict about their image and does not allow such a thing to exist. There is a external source template for the DAR, but it is not a sticker:

Thank you so much for responding. I did discover he is also recognized by SAR so I will include that sticker.
Would there be any problem with using a generic image for a DAR sticker, or would the organisation object to that?
I suspect they would object.

Moot since Liz's answer.

Lucy, we now have a sticker.

I thought as you until about a couple of months ago when I ran across this.

Yes, all Revolutionary War Lineal Descendant groups have different requirements, Cincinnati, Sons of the Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution, and Daughters of the American Revolution; Children of the American Revolution.  Cincinnati required several years as an officer under Gen. Washington; SR required actual military service; SAR, DAR, CAR accepts anything that aided the cause. So while they sound similar, they are from strict to we accept almost every adult who lived through the Revolution who did anything that someone could consider aiding the cause.

Thanks for breaking that down. I wasn't aware of that. That info should probably go somewhere in the 1776 project.

Thank you Donald for the information .. C'est Bon ..

Thank you, Donald! I did not know the classifications for each society. My 5th great grandfather supplied beef to the American Troops which granted him the SAR and DAR for aiding the cause.

It appears William Herndon is recognized by DAR. You can look him up on their public website.DAR WillIam Herndon

I go to DAR, genealogy, which provides an ancestor search. I don't see any problems with his current listing.

There is a sticker for DAR patriots.

Hope this helps.

That is actually where I found him last night but could not find the sticker on WikiTree. Apparently it is new by only a couple of months as there was a previous issue with right to DAR images. It was shared with me last night in an above comment. Thank you for responding!
