Benjamin is a great-great grandson of Mayflower passenger George Soule.

There is another Benjamin Soule, also born in 1728, son of Joseph, who has caused some confusion. Do not merge with profile Benjamin Soule-747. The overlap in birthdates of children indicates these are two separate men.

Biography

Benjamin was born 12 August 1728, in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, son of George and Lidia (Howland) Soule.[1][2]

Benjamin married Abigail Howland,[3][4] daughter of Isaac and Hannah (Allen) Howland. Abigail was born 10th 6th month 1731 in Dartmouth.[3] Various dates have been given for this marriage. Jan 1736 as suggested by at least one pedigree file[5] is incorrect given that Abigail was only five at the time. Unsourced, Jan 1745/46 in Nine Partners, NY, is a more reasonable nine months before the birth of their first child.

Benjamin Soul was granted an earmark for his animals 7 July 1747 in Crum Elbow Precinct. The earmark was voided 8 Feb 1773. His name was on the tax rolls for Crum Elbow/Charlotte Precinct Feb 1747/48 through 1773. Benjn Soles was a Path Master for Charlotte Precinct (formerly Crum Elbow in 1762, 1764 and 1766[4] He had a long history of non-payment of debts. He was not mentioned in his father's will 29 6m 1776. There are some 30 documents in the judicial archives , the last dated 3 Sep 1779, filed 16 Nov 1779.[3] His name has not been located in the 1790 Census.

Children

Mayflower Families through Five Generations Vol 3, #546 (1980) presented a list of seven children: Isaac, George, Ebenezer, Benjamin, Rachel, Elijah, Ruth.

I am not sure why Abigail was disconnected from her husband Ben and having asked without reply.I have reconnected her.If I have made a mistake please inform me.

I concur with James, why disconnect Abigail? Both the Latest George Soule books and the more recent Settlers of the Beekman patent agree that Benjamin, son of George m. Abigail Howland

Soule-747 and Soule-29 appear to represent the same person because: Please set these to a Rejected Match, if they are really two different people.

For years the two first cousins, Benjamin Soule of George, and Benjamin Soule of Joseph have be confounded [both being born in 1728]. So have their children. See the 2015 version of the pink book on Soule by the Mayflower Society. Also the Soule chapter in Volume 12 of the Settlers of Beekman Patent series. The most recently published books should be cited. Families in Dutchess County, New York, are exceedingly hard to research.
