Rowland was born on 5 Nov 1733 in Dartmouth, Bristol, Massachusetts Bay Colony.[1][2] He was the son of George Soule and Lydia (Howland) Soule.[1] When Roland was eight, the family moved from Dartmouth to Dutchess County, New York Colony.[3]
He was complained of over an unknown issue on 19d 7m 1759 [19 Jul 1759].[4]
He married first Mary Irish, daughter of Jesse and Mary, on 24d 12m 1761 [24 Dec 1761] in Nine Partners, New York.[5][6]
He was disowned by the Oblong monthly meeting on 17d 7m 1766 [17 Jul 1766] for marrying out of unity.[7] He had remarried following being widowed.
