Biography

We moved to Waterford in 1958 from Garden City Michigan right after younger brother Charles was born. John joined the US Airforce at age 17 per his father's request to help get his older brother Daniel out of the house so he would join too. Bought first house in Pontiac Michigan at age 19 for 13k. What a deal. In 1979 relocated to Carlsbad California where older brother Darrel was living. Started home improvement business in 1982 and was married to 3rd wife by 1985 and moved to Boulder, Colorado in July 1986 until after the banking crash of 2008, needed to live on low income by Dec. 2010 and moved to Davao Philippines. Survived very well and returned to the states in 2016.

I was told years ago when my Grandmother Elsie was alive about my name change and she told me that the Karbginsky name may have been changed when they came from Germany for possibly secret reasons. So she said it didn't matter to her if I changed it. Some spelled it Carbginsky, some spelled it as is. She said the story was that Charles Sr. as recorded may have been a Karben name (seehttps://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Karben-5 ) but couldn't confirm spelling until now. Ken Bancroft, my 2nd cousin also had told me he had records of this name too he found as his wife was Edna Karbginsky. See image attached of marriage record of Charles Carbginsky Jr. daughter Elizabeth (Lisette) Carbginski Grass Taylor; Mothers name Louise Folgmann and fathers name Charles Carbon (anoucication spelling).

Hello John,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Hi John, I suggested merges for the Husted duplicates. Once those go through, you will be connected to the rest of the family tree. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi John, welcome! I saw you added the Husted tag. Most of us in the U.S. are descendants of Robert Husted. Let me know if you need any help getting connected to the rest of the family; you will find many branches here already.
