Biography

Carl was born about 1842. He emigrated from Germany in 1861 with his father, siblings and stepmother. The large Scheel family settled in McNab Township, Renfrew County, Ontario. Carl was known by his middle name William. He married Wilhelmina "Minnie" Kuhl in 1864 and they had nine children (Herman, William, Robert, August, John, Wilhelmine, Henry, Charles Frederick and Louisa Lizzie) with eight of the living long lives. Son William left home before the 1891 census and as a single man had a farm a few houses away from his parents. He later married. William passed away in 1913 in Arnprior at age 70.
