Biography

Christian was born in 1817. He married a woman named Christina Kruger around 1841. This information comes from the marriage records of three children who listed her as their mother. At this time there is no further information on this woman except for her probable death because Christian remarried. His second wife was Johanne Kargus (spelled Cargus on her emigration record). The whole Scheel family left Germany for Canada in 1861. There were nine children, most likely the oldest five were children of the late Christina Krueger. The family settled in McNab Township, Renfrew, Ontario, where Christian was a farmer. Christian and Johanne had one more child, Robert Scheel, born in Canada. Christian passed away in 1883 and was buried in Arnprior.
