Biography

Ferdinand was born in 1851 the fifth child of Christian Scheel and his first wife Christina Kruger. Either as a result of childbirth or a year later, Christina passed away and Christian married Johanne Louise Kargus who became the stepmother to Christina's children. There were four more children born in Germany, half siblings to Ferdinand when the whole family immigrated to Canada in 1861. They settled in McNab Township, Renfrew County, Ontario. Like his father, Ferdinand became a farmer. In 1877 he married Minnie Kargus, his stepmother's niece. The couple remained in McNab Township and had 8 children. Ferdinand passed away in 1919 in Arnprior.
