Robert was born in 1862. He was the son of Christian Scheel and Johanne Cargus. He grew up in McNab Township, Renfrew County where his father was a farmer. He first married Pauline in 1883. Her surname varies in records as Ulrich, Uldrich and Ullary. They had two children when Pauline took her own life. Robert married her sister Elizabeth in 1891 and their 40th wedding anniversary was reported in the Arnprior Chronical: (*) "McNab Couple are Wedded 40 Years. All their married life has been spent on the farm on the 10th Line where they reside. Tangible evidence of the sincere wishes of numerous friends was found in the presentation to Mr. & Mrs. Scheel of a set of leather chairs. On hand were all members of their family except one son Ernest. They were married in the First Baptist Church by the pastor of the White Lake Congregation." Robert passed away in 1940 and was buried in the Albert Street Cemetery in Arnprior.
