Washington Heisler was born on January 5, 1825, and died on April 25, 1895. He was the son of George Heisler and Maria Yost.
Self educated, he was initially in the drug and hardware business in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, entering the Lutheran ministry in 1858. He served as a minister in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, Salona, Pennsylvania, Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, Tremont, Pennsylvania and Minersville, Pennsylvania. He retired in 1895.
