Martin L. Heisler was born on November 9, 1846, and died on September 11, 1924. He was the son of Rev. Washington Heisler and Sarah Kurtz.
He attended the Pennsylvania College (now Gettysburg College), earning a bachelor of arts degree in 1869, and was ordained as a Lutheran minister in 1871. He served as a Lutheran minister from 1871 to 1911.
