Biography

I have estimated that Tomassina Cusimano is born around 1837, making her 20 when she marries. She is the daughter of Antonino Cusimano and Luigia Salerno.

Tomassina marries Marco Cascio, a recent widower, on 8 February 1857.[1] His son, Salvatore, from his first marriage, born the previous November, survives to marry.

Tommasa and Marco have at least seven children together: Stefano (1858), Antonino (1860), Vincenzo (1862), Giuseppe (1865), two daughters named Maria Carmela (1867 and 1873), and Giovanni (1869).

Stefano is born 28 January 1858 and baptized the next day as Stephanum. His godparents are Vincenzo Labruzzo and Rosa Cusimano.

Antonino was born and baptized on 9 January 1860. His godfather is the unmarried Josepho Cusimano.

Vincenzo was born 6 December 1862 at 6 PM, and baptized Vincentium the following day. His godparents are Angelo Sabella and Sigismonda Palazzo.

Giuseppe is born 3 July 1865 and baptized Josephum the next day. His godparents are Biagio Marino and Luigia, his unmarried sister.

The first Maria Carmela is born 4 January 1867 and baptized the next day. In this record, her mother's name s spelled Guzmano. Her godfather is Giovanni Streva, unmarried.

She dies on 10 July 1867 at seven months of age.

Giovanni is born 26 November 1869 and baptized Joannem the next day. His godfather is Giovanni Canzoneri, who is unmarried.

The second Maria Carmela is born and baptized Mariam Carmelam on 9 November 1873. In this record, her mother's name s spelled Guzimano. Her godmother is Aloysia Labruzzo, who is unmarried.

The eldest, Stefano, is killed in 1893 at age 35, identified in the death notice as a landowner, and bachelor.

Maria Carmela marries her first cousin, Stefano Cascio, on 27 September 1898. Her parents are both still living.

Antonino marries Rosalia di Miceli on 28 November 1906. This marriage record contains a dispensation, dated 16 November, required due to second and third degree consanguinity.[2] They are first cousins, once removed.

Tommasa is widowed on February 8, 1909.[3]

Cusimano-12 and Cusimano-68 appear to represent the same person because: The younger woman's birth year was only an estimate.
