Biography

James Sylvester Clark was the son of Joel Clark and Sarah Jane Bellamy, born on 27 Dec 1868 in Greenup County, Kentucky.[1]

James married Mary Ann "Mamie" Arthur (1876–1954) on 27 Dec 1896 in Boyd County, Kentucky. They resided in Oak View, Boyd County, Kentucky, until after 1910. They had two sons there, and James worked in the iron foundry.[2][3][4]

James Clark and Mary Ann Arthur had the following children:

  • Chester Leon Clark (1901–1983)
  • Arthur Harold "Harold" Clark (1905–1981)

By 1920, the family relocated to Scioto County, Ohio, where James worked in a furniture factory, and then as a janitor in the Coca-cola plant. They resided in Clay and New Boston.[5][6][7]

Mary died on 23 Sep 1954 in Portsmouth, Scioto, Ohio. James died in Portsmouth on 6 Jan 1960. They are buried in Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky.[8][9]
