Biography by Jim Baucom, John's descendant via son Cader

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 500+ people at Ancestry have mistakenly posted this John to be the son of Nicholas Baucom and Mary, b 1725 in Baltimore. MD because of an wrong assumption made by the author of THE BAUCOM BOOK by Banks McLaurin.

My Y DNA project proved that John had a different father. John's haplotype I-M233 and Nicholas' haplotype R-M269. Descendants of Josiah, Cader, Lewis, Asa and John Jr via his son Bennett .. just added today 5 FEB 2021 are a Y DNA match.

Source: ENQUIRER..MONROE, N. C THURSDAY, JANUARY 30, 1958 (A reprint of a 1932 article about John's son Josiah Baucom and his descendants) . It states that John's parents were James Baucom and Frances Drake born in England, married in NC and had two sons John and a Ransom. No other data is presented about Ransom but many of Joseph's descendants had that name.

John married Rachel about 1754 in Wake County, NC. Rachel's maiden name is unknown. Supposedly Rachel Barker married a John Baucom son in Baltimore MD and John Baucom, son of James Baucom and Frances Drake never got to MD. He was never recorded as John H. Baucom, just John nmi.

John provided supplies to the North Carolina Militia. He received payment for his services from the Revolutionary Army Accounts following the war.

Since there is no evidence one way or the other, could the marriage location be set to uncertain?

It has a question mark. When I started my research in 1969 I discovered two marriages of first cousins at the genealogy archives at Morgan Co. AL and I asked the manager was this really true. He said, "stop and think about the 1700-1850 situation, mostly farmers who gad slim pickings to begin with who married someone no further away than a day's ride on horseback, approximately 5-10 miles, so if you want to be very cautious we don't even know that they were married, but we always assume this unless some way It is documented. I know that my wife's line includes a ancestor born out of wedlock. A cousin was researching court 1800s court records a found court records where the father of the boy paid money to the father of the girl, and they never married.

Recently people have been adding the middle initial "H" to John's name with the source being find a grave which is not a true marker. Many examples of find a grave posting are full of errors, ie John being the son of Nicholas which we know is not true from my Baucom Y DNA project.

Baucom-23 and Baucom-216 appear to represent the same person because: same wives and dates

The Y DNA statement above is a lie. AT LEAST FIVE CARRIERS (DESCENDANTS) OF THIS JOHN BAUCOM HAVE MATCHING Y DNA, WHICH DOES NOT MATCH DESCENDANTS OF NICHOLAS. JOHN WAS BORN IN NC, DATE UNKNOWN and NOT in Baltimore, MD.

The above Y DNA chart documents Proof that Nicholas Baucom was NOT the father of John. Contact me for details
