My Myers family is from that area originally. My great grandfather Cecil Harvey Myers was born in that area and he was the youngest of many children. Some may have remained in that area.

Hi Marcus,  I have Walter ancestry from the St Louis, MO area.  I have taken an autosomal DNA test and it is listed on my profile Pennie-22  If you have taken a DNA test and we match let me know I can maybe help you with a Walter line.  Although I have no family stories of anyone having a child that was not with the family.  

From your note, are you thinking you are a product of a Walter and Myers couple?  Or possibly from a Walter or a Myer line?

Jefferson City is in Cole County.  I looked in the census for anyone born in 1940 with the last name of Walter that was male in Cole County and there were no results.  I did the same for Myer with the same result.  So maybe he was born after 1940.

The state archives are located in Jefferson City as it is the capitol of the State.  Do you live close to MO?  In the St Louis area we have 2 wonderful genealogy departments at our library headquarters... one in the City and one in the County.  We also have military records center here.  And a number of Family History Search Centers.  Jefferson City is about 2 hours and 15 minutes.  About the same from Kansas City as it is in the middle of the state.

I know this question is 3 years old but I do have a lot of Myers in our tree in MO. Most of them live in the bootheel/southeast missouri. If you are still looking, I can share some cemtery names, towns, etc.
