Actress Jessica Walter of "Arrested Development" died March 24, 2021 at the age of 80.

I've created a beginning profile but can't find any "free" photos --- help with information, details, ancestors, etc
WikiTree profile: Jessica Walter

I've uploaded a crop from a CC-allowed image on Wikimedia Commons.
Thanks Melanie! I saw that one ... would be great to find one of her when she was a young actress, if possible.
I didn't see any that were public domain, or CC allowed.  Perhaps some will surface now that she is deceased.

There is a lovely photo of her -- behind the paywall of the Wall Street Journal.  (If my husband were still among the living, I'd have been able to see if it carries any copyright, but I let his subscription lapse as I never read the thing.)

Dallas - I have created an image from 3 separate images, one of which is the photo on the WSJ as screencapped from search results (because I don't have access to the actual image).

IF you think that would fall under fair use due to creativity (because it is NOT the original image anymore), I'd be happy to upload it -- or email it to you for evaluation.
Melanie -- do what you think is best ~ you've been on WikiTree far long than I and know what's allowed and what's not.  The only thing I 'think' I've learned, is that if it was a publicity photo for something, that it's usable? Is that your understanding as well?

Have you noticed that people adding photos to FAG profiles don't seem to mind where they get them
Some publicity photos seem to be clear to use; others don't.

I have a screencap from the 1960s (1964) that I believe may fall under fair use.  I have that already mentioned "shopped" version of another image that also may fall under fair use, but I have no date for it.  (It IS from a few decades ago, and being altered from the original may - MAY - be covered by fair use because of age.  I'm not  sure.)

Mostly a low-quality screencap is allowable under fair use, when there is no free version available, so long as a disclaimer is included.  But - I'm not a copyright lawyer, and can only go by what I have been advised falls under fair use.  (The lawyers I know do not work in copyright, so I usually proceed with caution.)

Sounds good!! smiley
