Walter-3304 and Walter-3299

Question

I just adopted this. I am researching it compared to Walter-3299. A lot of similarities but a lot of differences too. The Walter family often has several members with the same names and are often conflated erroneously.

The person on Find A Grave has different parents listed. But seems to have same wife listed. Find A Grave does not indicate source of their information.

I think two different Howard S Walter profiles have been mixed up.

See the 2 profiles.  They have different parents but the same wives.  Dates are close but not the same.  

I sent a private message to the other PM but have gotten no response.  I have no way of knowing from what I have found how to untangle these.  Any help is appreciated.  

These are creating the last 5 Suggestions I have but because the info is in conflict I can't resolve it without forcing a resolution and I don't really think that is the correct way to fix this.  If I can figure out which of the Walter husbands the wife goes with that will go a long way to fixing this.  But I have not found the parents on a marriage record.

Update on several weeks of research and grid making...

There were definitely two cousins named Howard.  

Howard born to George and Louisa was not born in 1902 as the profile lists it.. he was born in either 1896 or 1897 according to census records from 1900-1920.  

His death from the Social Security Index was: WALTER, HOWARD was born 12 August 1896, received Social Security number 121-10-1596 (indicating New York) and, Death Master File says, died November 1983 1254293

The other Howard born to Samuel and Sarah seems to be our guy.  So I am fixing that profile to have the correct family listed and taking people who belong on his profile off of his cousin's profile.  I am in the process of doing all of this so it may take me a while to complete all the changes.

I did get the Private Messages.  It will take me a little while to work through the details.  Thank you for the research!  

I am babysitting my grandson who is now a little over 6 months old adjusted and 7 months actual.  He was born prematurely so adjusted birth is used often for the first year to determine milestone growth.  

Anyway, I will take an in-depth look at this and see if it can unravel this mess.   I appreciate the input!  Keep in touch Eddie!  Hope you are well!

Ok I looked at what you sent and then also looked for more based on what you sent.  

The marriage record I put into Gloria's bio until we decide which Howard is her husband.  

These are the two Social Security Death Records for the two profiles.  I am thinking the correct Howard S is the one born in 1902 and died 1978 because it matches the data on the profile while the other one has wrong birth date and wrong death date based on the names of the parents.

WALTER, HOWARD was born 12 August 1896, received Social Security number 121-10-1596 (indicating New York) and, Death Master File says, died November 1983 1254293  his profile has 1903 but that does not jive with census records or this for the parents listed.  So I think I need to change dates on his profile and detach him from Gloria.  What do the rest of you think?

It has Howard Walter birth year 1902, death year 1978 shown first. To his right is Georgia Cheney 1902-1981 (his wife), next to her right is Howard Walter born 1903 who died 1978 (her husband).

Frank correct me if I am wrong... but I think what that is doing is showing what is in the two profiles that I think are 2 different people.  I am not sure how this helps me figure out which Howard S is her husband vs the other one....

I need to put her with the right Howard and his parents... but I can't figure out which of the two that is...

I looked at George Walter and Louise Walter's 1910 census record and the in no Howard Walter. He would have been 8 years of age at that time.

He is in Samuel Walter and Sarah Hiller's 1910 census.

Ok so I have option A Walter-3304:  Howard S Walter born 1902 died 1978 he has parents George Walter and Louise S. (Stark) Walter and shows:

So this clearly does not match a birth of 1902

Then there is option B Walter-3299:  1903-1978 I think maybe both profiles are referencing the same death.  Not sure that is correct.  Parents are listed as  Samuel Walter and Sarah (Hiller) Walter https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M54J-L7F Howard is born 1903 so age 7

Both profiles show a marriage to the same woman and one shows a child born in 1932.  Both are plausible husbands to Georgia Cheney but there is nothing to show which one actually married her and fathered Jane.  

This is a death record that shows 1902-1978 and seems to match Walter-3304.

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/155323846  has her attached to the Walter born 1902 so likely Walter 3304 but his find a grave shows his parents as the ones listed for 3299 not 3304.  So that does not match.  

I found a new clue the daughters were hospitalized due to a fire.  Girls are listed in the article as Mary Lou age 7 and Jan age 3.  This article is close to the death date of Jane as the article is in  Salamanca Cattaraugus Republican January 22, 1936 page 10.  However it says the girls were in the hospital recovering.  The fire took place Jan 15.  And the article was dated the 16th but published on the 22.  Article is listed for Jamestown.  And it works with the memorial write up and information for her Find A Grave.

Also based on data in 1930 US Census he married most likely in 1928.
