Hi Wikitreers,
In attempts to find the genealogy behind the antique vintage post card in my collection I’ve found a bit of a story and mystery.
Muriel Webster aka “Merill Weberes” age 16 in 1940 so by 1943 a 19 year old girl who was in East Hampton Connecticut and wrote her postcard to Miss Ruth Beatrice Lutton post mark dated August 25, 1943. WWII Era!
We need collaboration as in 1930 she is living with her uncles family Ryan Hurst at age 6
This girl seems to have never really had a home but doing a lot of traveling from household to household as in 1940 census a boarder living with Ruth Lutton’s family
1.) Was Ruth a family member or did her family employ Muriel
2.) Muriel was born in Maine Abt 1924
3.) She lived in two known places Randolph, Mass and Quincy, Mass
4.) She visited East Hampton, Ct August 1943 “Tennis Courts, Ted Hiltons Vacation Hide-a-A-Way, Leesville, East Hampton, Connecticut
5.) Why was Muriel not living at home with her parents?
6.) Vintage postage stamp is a 1 cent stamp of the statue of Liberty that reads “Freedom of Speech And Religion. From Want and Fear.” Which I find very intriguing the saying and the year
Who was Muriel Webster? Did she marry? Her maiden name appears to be Webster. My gut feeling is she possibly has Quebec French lineage with the alt name spelling?
Thank you
