Orpheus W Wilson Veteran of the 106th NYV

Hi Wikitreers,

This veteran needs parental clarification. Is it time to disconnect his current parental lineage?

The FindAGrave parents show a different set of parents than his current connection.

Names are the same for the father but different dates. Mothers name not the same.

Any collaboration is appreciated

Hi Roger,

The father mentioned in the town history for Orpheus was born October 22, 1818 in New York and died June 20, 1890. He has a memorial that is attached to Orpheus as his father and is a match see Memorial. I will disconnect the current parents on his Wikitree with a research note. 

The maternal lineage is mentioned as well as a Harriett A. Swinning born in 1821 of “Germany and Yankee origin”

This has solved the mystery to his conflated parental lineage. 

There is a only one Hercules who was his poppa and this is apparently him as the gravestones memorials also match this data.

The probate record and will of Hercules who died in 1890 lists Orpheus W. Wilson of Nevada, Iowa as one of his children:
