thanks for your helpful ideas! I enjoyed the FamilyTree piece. When I visited the Archive in St. Gallen in 2020, the archivist was very, very helpful. So in this case I decided to write him directly and see if he could help my track down the detailed information. I'm pretty sure that the symbol next to Habacuc means that his citizenship in St. Gallen was revoked (he converted to Catholism, took the name "Paul" and became a Jesuit professor in Rome). I'm hoping to track down details about whether he had a wife and child at the time, so maybe the referenced document will help. Also trying to figure out how to search for the similar "citizen registration book" for Bern for 1635....
