Biography
Birth
John was born about 1788, in Port of Menteith Parish, Perthshire, Scotland. He enlisted in the Coldstream Guards and served in the famous regiment for a number of years. Having left the regiment he found employment with Alexander Graham in the Parish of Kincardine as a coachman.
Marriage
On the 16th of November 1816 in the Parish of Kincardine he married his employers daughter, Joanna Stewart Graham. He was twenty eight and she was eighteen, the marriage having taken place following the couples elopement.[1]
