Biography

Charles was born 29 Sep 1908 in Stanley, South Dakota. He was the son of Francis Lewis and Stella Eastburn. [1]

In 1910 he was living in Township 1, Stanley, South Dakota.[2] The household included Francis Lewis age 33, wife Stella M Lewis age 31, son Roy Edward Lewis age 11, daughter Alice A Lewis age 9, son James E Lewis age 7 and son Charles L Lewis age 2. Stella was born in Iowa, Charles was born in South Dakota, everyone else was born in Nebraska. Francis was a farmer. Stella was the mother of 4 children, all living. Francis and Stella had been married 12 years.

In 1920 he was living in Slough, Pierce, Nebraska.[3] The household included Francis Lewis age 44, wife Stella Lewis age 52, son Elmer Lewis age 17, son Lester Lewis age 11, son Robert Lewis age 7 and son Harold Lewis age 3. All were born in Nebraska except Stella born in Iowa. Francis was a farmer.

In 1940 he was living in Election Precinct 19, Cedar, Nebraska.[4] The household included Howard E Weber age 30, wife Lola Weber age 32, daughter Paulina Weber age 11, son Lowell Weber age 8 and employee Lester Lewis age 31, all born in Nebraska. Howard operated a farm. Lester was a laborer on the farm.

He registered for the World War II draft in Randolph, Cedar, Nebraska.[5]

He served in the US Army from 28 Mar 1942 to 23 Feb 1945.[6]

He died 20 Jul 1988.[7]

He is buried in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk, Madison County, Nebraska.[8]
