Biography

Alice was born 5 Dec 1901 in Nebraska. She was the daughter of Francis Lewis and Stella Eastburn.

In 1910 she was living in Township 1, Stanley, South Dakota.^[1] The household included Francis Lewis age 33, wife Stella M Lewis age 31, son Roy Edward Lewis age 11, daughter Alice A Lewis age 9, son James E Lewis age 7 and son Charles L Lewis age 2. Stella was born in Iowa, Charles was born in South Dakota, everyone else was born in Nebraska. Francis was a farmer. Stella was the mother of 4 children, all living. Francis and Stella had been married 12 years.

Alice Lewis and Fred Backer were married 05 Aug 1925 in Randolph, Cedar, Nebraska.^[2]

In 1930 she was living in Randolph, Cedar, Nebraska.^[3] The household included Fred H Backer age 28, wife Alice A Backer age 29, daughter Virginia M Backer age 4, son Gordon Backer age 2 and daughter Leona R Backer age 11 months. All were born in Nebraska except Fred born in Iowa. Fred was a proprietor of a retail harness company.

In 1940 she was living in Randolph, Randolph City, Cedar, Nebraska.^[4] The household included Frederick Backer age 38, wief Alice Backer age 37, daughter Virginia Backer age 14, son Gordon Backer age 12, daughter Betty Backer age 9 and daughter Evelyn Backer age 8. All were born in Nebraska except Fred born in Iowa. Fred was a painter for a contractor.

She died 3 Jan 1982, probably in Randolph, Cedar, Nebraska.^[5]

She is buried in Saint Frances Cemetery, Randolph, Cedar County, Nebraska.^[6]
