Biography

Roy was born 27 Dec 1898 in Wayne County, Nebraska. He was the son of Francis Lewis and Stella Eastburn.

In 1900 he was living in Garfield Precinct, Wayne, Nebraska.^[1] The household included Frank Lewis age 25 born in Nebraska, wife Stella Lewis age 21 born in Iowa and son Eddie Lewis age 2 born in Nebraska. Frank was a farmer. Stella was the mother of 1 child, living. Frank and Stella had been married 2 years.

In 1910 he was living in Township 1, Stanley, South Dakota.^[2] The household included Francis Lewis age 33, wife Stella M Lewis age 31, son Roy Edward Lewis age 11, daughter Alice A Lewis age 9, son James E Lewis age 7 and son Charles L Lewis age 2. Stella was born in Iowa, Charles was born in South Dakota, everyone else was born in Nebraska. Francis was a farmer. Stella was the mother of 4 children, all living. Francis and Stella had been married 12 years.

He registered for the World War I draft in Pierce County, Nebraska.^[3] He was a farm laborer working for Roy Lewis (a different person from the applicant). His nearest relative was father Frank Lewis.

Roy Edward Lewis and Edith M Birdsell were married 3 Dec 1924 in Yankton, South Dakota.^[4]

In 1930 he was living in Randolph, Cedar, Nebraska.^[5] The household included Roy Edward Lewis age 30, wife May E Lewis age 22 and lodger Ada M Jensen age 37, all born in Nebraska. Roy was a mechanic in a garage. Ada was a saleslady at a retail grocery.

In 1940 he was living in Randolph, Randolph City, Cedar, Nebraska.^[6] The household included Ray Edward Lewis age 41, wife Edith Lewis age 33, daughter Donna Lewis age 9 and son Larry Lewis age 4, all born in Nebraska. Roy was proprietor and mechanic at a garage.

He registered for the World War II draft in Randolph, Cedar, Nebraska.^[7] His next of kin was Mrs. Edith Lewis.

He died 18 Jun 1960.

He is buried in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk, Madison County, Nebraska.^[8]
