Biography

Herbert was born in 1874. He is the son of George Chafe.^[1] He married Ada Cornick on Aug 26, 1903 at St John's, Newfoundland.^[2] Herbert was living at St John's in 1921 with wife Ada and four children.^[3] In 1935 he was also listed on the census at St John's, Newfoundland. he was 61 years old.^[4] In 1945, Herbert was listed on the census at St John's with surname Benson. He was 71 years old.^[5] Herbert passed away in 1956 at St John's, Newfoundland. He is buried in the Anglican Cemetery at St John's.^[6]
