Ann was born in 1804 in Fadmoor (probably), a village 2 miles north Kirkbymoorside, Yorkshire, where she was baptized. Census records show her two brothers were born in Fadmoor. Ann was the daughter of Joseph Wood and Jane Wood. She married Lancelot Hardy, a miller, in 1824 and the couple had seven children in England before emigrating to Ontario, Canada around 1843. In Meadowvale, Peel County, they had their eighth child, Maria, born 1844. Ann died soon after the birth of Maria. Her husband remarried.
Not to be confused with her cousin Ann Wood born 10 Dec 1800 in Kirkbymoorside, daughter of John Wood and Sarah Stockton. Ann Wood in this profile named her first child with Lancelot Hardy, Joseph Wood Hardy after her father Joseph Wood.
If you have a death record for Ann (Wood) Hardy, please contact me Pat Miller, profile manager, or add it to this profile. The Canada, Find A Grave Index should not be listed as a source in the interest of accuracy. It claims the woman was named "Annie Jane Hardy" 1804-1850 buried in Churchville Cemetery, wife of Lancelot Hardy. While Ann (Wood) Hardy may indeed be buried in Churchville Cemetery, there is no record or grave marker, nor any record suggesting her middle name was Jane.
