Biography

Jane was born in 1780. She was the daughter of Samuel Williams and Mary Unknown. She passed away after 1860 (last census record of jane is 1860) (dates are based on info from The Heritage of Iredell County, Vol. 1).

According to Heritage of Iredell County, Jane and John were married by 1807 because John received a gift from his father, Thomas Redman in March of 1807 of 130 acres of land: Jane & John has 7 children, 3 sons & 4 daughters:

    Last will and testament of John Redman of Iredell, NC
    John Redman leaves to his beloved wife Jane Redman in her lifetime or widowhood all the lands where she now lives, with all my capital in cash and cash notes and accounts together with my stock all kinds when in her life or widowhood when at her death or marriage this property to be divided among the under named and according to as it is written.
    I will all my lands to be equally divided among my 3. sons Melver Redman, Alexander Redman and Thomas Redman at the death or marriage of their mother Jane Redman.
    I. will daughter Elena Allen her equal share of the value of the Negroes sold, her equal part of the Negro girls now in the possession of Augustin Allen and William Chenault. and Elena Allen is to pay half the costs of the suit entered against me by the said Allen and Chenault.
    I will my daughter Arena Chenault her equal part of the Negroes sold and her equal part in the 2 Negro girls now in the possession of the Allen and Chenault named above and Arena Chenault is to pay half of the cost of the suit entered against me by Allen and Chenault and is to pay back the Estate $400 which I loaned her and $300 the said Chenault owed me for boarding.
    I will that Melver Redman, Alexander REdman, Thomas REdman, Mary Redman & Elizabeth Redman are to have equal parts in the Negroes sold and to have equal parts in the 2 Negroes now in the possession of Allen and Chenault which Negroes I claim as my property.
    Also the balance of my Estate to be divided equally among the 5 named heirs at the death or marriage of my wife Jane Redman
    I nominate my 2 sons Melver and Alexander Redman to be Executors of this my Last Will and Testament.

    Arena Redman married to William Chenault Daughter of John and Jane (Williams) Redman of Iredell, NC. Her grandfather Thomas Redman was born in Virginia of Irish descent. Thomas Redman was a pioneer settler of Iredell county and the farm he developed provided him resources and home until his death. He and his wife Mary raised a large family of children.
    John Redman was also a farmer who lived in Iredell his whole life. His wife Jane William survived him several years; she was a daughter of Samuel Williams believed to be from Davidson County of Welsh descent, but moved to Iredell and farmed.
    Mrs. Wesley George (Arena Redman) died at 74. Her first husband was William Chenault with whom she had 3 children: Abner, William and Mary.
    By her marriage to Wesley George she had 7 children.
    Wesley Henry George born in Stokes, NC in 1810 and was the father of Thomas Millard. Wesley Henry George worked as a surveyor in Iredell and the surrounding area. Bought a farm in New Hope and oversaw the operation. As a young man he was a school teacher. In 1872 he bought a farm in Yadkin and lived there until his death in 1880.
