Mayflower Descendant of George Soule

Biography

Joseph Soule, s. William [William and Hannah, C.R.3.], was born Nov. 8, 1701, in Dartmouth, Bristol, Massachusetts.[1][2]

He was a mariner, and according to his brother George, he went to North Carolina.[3]

On 18 Dec 1739, Benjamin Soule, brother of Joseph, sold Joseph's assets to William Small. William Small had a land patent in North Carolina. Small died in 1743, without paying his debt to Benjamin Soule, leaving no inheritance for the orphaned children of Joseph Soule.[3][4]

Joseph Soule's wife was perhaps a Howland or Page. They were married about 1727 (after 23 Dec. 1725). She died ca. 1730 before the deed, dated 21 May 1731. Any children would have been raised by aunts or uncles. Sons of Benjamin had family names including Howland. His aunt Sarah was married to Samuel Howland.[3][4]
