Giuseppe Pietro Benedetto Soldano is born and baptized on 8 February 1778 in Monreale, the son of Maestro Alberto Soldano and Caterina Geraldi. His godparents are Maestro Pietro, son of the late Marco and Marta Radicello, and Marta, his daughter.
First Marriage, to Antonia Greco
Maestro Giuseppe and his first wife, Maria Antonia Greco, are both born and married in Monreale. They have four known children: Caterina (1805), Alberto (1807), Antonina (1809), and Salvatore (1813).
Caterina is born and baptized 19 September 1805 in Corleone. Her godparents are Salvatore and Serafina Soldano, brother and sister.
In 1807 Giuseppe, age 26 (b. 1781), lives sotto il Carmine, under via Carmine, with his wife Antonia, 21 (b. 1786), and daughter Caterina, two (b. 1805).
Alberto is born and baptized on 10 December 1807 in Corleone, named after his paternal grandfather. His godparents are Don Ferdinando and Donna Anna Orlando, a married couple.
Antonina is born 31 December 1809 and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Maestro Salvatore and Serafina Greco, brother and sister from Monreale.
Salvatore is born and baptized on 24 January 1813. His godparents are Maestro Salvatore and Castrenza Greco, brother and sister.
Antonia's date of death is not yet known. She dies before Giuseppe remarries, in 1816.
Second Marriage, to Giuseppa Maniscalco
Maestro Giuseppe marries Giuseppa Maniscalco, a Corleone native, on 14 February 1816. This record gives his mother's last name as "Valenti." Although his brother Francesco marries only ten days earlier, his marriage record indicates their mother is still living, while this record says that both of their parents have died.
There is a note at the bottom of page 101 of the matrimonial record (image 396 of 592) to see page 111, record no. 439 regarding the 14 February 1816 marriage of Maestro Giuseppe Soldano and Giuseppa Maniscalco. Their marriage appears at the bottom of page 111, numbered in sequence but coming after October marriages.
Giuseppe and Giuseppa have at least seven children together: Lucia (1817), Emmanuele (1819), Vincenzo (1821), Liboria (1823), Rosalia (1825), a second daughter named Antonina (1827), and Giovanna (1828).
Lucia is born and baptized 14 May 1817. Her godparents are Maestro Gaetano and Giuseppa Governali, a married couple.
Emmanuele is born and baptized 11 October 1819 in Corleone. His godparents are Vincenzo Governali and Caterina Soldano, who are not a married couple.
Vincenzo is born and baptized on 7 June 1821. His godparents are Maestro Salvatore and Gioachina Greco, brother and sister.
Liboria is born and baptized on 10 February 1823. Her godparents are Maestro Salvatore and Castrenza Greco, brother and sister.
Rosalia is born and baptized on 17 April 1825, named after her maternal grandmother. Her godparents are Maestro Pietro and Bernarda Cuti, a married couple.
Giuseppe's daughter from his first marriage, Antonina, dies unmarried at sixteen years of age (b. 1810) on 26 October 1826.
The second daughter named Antonina is born and baptized on 17 February 1827. Her godparents are Alberto and Caterina Giordano, her half brother and sister.
Giovanna is born and baptized 14 November 1828. Her godparents are Vincenzo and Maria Teresa (their last name and relationship is obscured.)
