John Baxter Morgan was born on 14 Feb 1818, in Virginia and was the 5th child & 4th son of William Andrew "Dick" Morgan and Mary Lafoy (Polly) Ragsdale
He married Mary Susan Lambert on 26 Nov 1842 in Brunswick, Virginia. (note, the only record that John Baxter and Mary were married are the census reports, findagrave and she is noted in the Sons of the Revolution Application.
John and his wife, Mary had 13 children (all but 2 made it to adulthood, some data is unavailable as to DOD so this is my best guess).

In 1850, John Baxter was a carpenter and they resided in Marshall, Kentucky. The 1st of their five children were born, Julia Esther Lee Morgan Kelley (1844-1933), Louisa Adeline (Addie) Morgan Draffen (1846-1931), Elizabeth Susan (Bettie) Morgan Cargill (1847-1929), John James Morgan (1849-1923).[1]
By 1860, the Morgan family was living in Mayfield, Graves, Kentucky and in addition to being a carpenter John Baxter was a farmer. 6 more children will join the growing family (note, William Joel is noted as being born in 1849 but was not on the 1850 census. William Joel Morgan (1849-1920), Martha Ann Morgan (1851-1852), Samuel Thomas Morgan (Jan 1853-?), Victoria V. Morgan (1854-Aft 1870), Robert Henry Morgan (1856-1882), Richard Washington Morgan (1856-1882)[2]
By 1870, the Morgan family was living in Symsonia, Graves, Kentucky and John Baxter's occupation is listed as farmer. 3 more children will join the family of twelve Mary Ellen Morgan Draffen (1861-1933), Mirriah (Louvenia) Morgan Milburn (1864-1930), Asa Timothy Morgan (1866-1939))[3]
By 1880, the Morgan family is residing in Mayfield, Graves, Kentucky.[4]

- There are three children that are showing birthdates of 1849 and the gravestones are not assisting with the mystery. I did my best to figure out when they were born
- Robbins Cemetery, Mayfield, Graves County, Kentucky, USA, (although Billion Graves shows the listing at Robbins Cemetery, the tombstone actually states Bethany Cemetery. I am not sure if that refers to his wife Mary only, posted by Donna Sokoll on findagrave)
