Samuel Bynum Morgan was born 1822 in Lunenburg Co. Virginia, the son of William and Mary Polly (Ragsdale) Morgan.
Samuel married Diana Landrum Young, also from Lunenburg, on February 02, 1847. That year they set off for Kentucky in a covered wagon With members of the Young family. The Morgans settled in Graves Co. This is where Sam and Diana's three children - Laurinda, John Robert and Samuel Septimus - were born.
In 1867 they left Kentucky, in a covered wagon, and traveled to Texas. They reached Austin, Tx. on January 7, 1868. Samuel Bynum "preempted" a plot of land on Grape Creek (12 miles southwest of Austin; later, the area was known as Cedar Valley) and became a farmer. He died there in 1896.
