DEATH AT CERRO GORDO
Martha Huff, Aged 77 Years Died on Tuesday Afternoon
Martha A.? Huff, aged 77 years died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Groves in Cerro Gordo on August 12.
The deceased had been ill for three weeks suffering with stomach trouble and while her death was a shock to the family it was not unexpected because her age had greatly reduced vitality and she had little strength to fight the disease which had fastened upon her.
The deceased was born near Dresden Muskingum County, Ohio on December 28, 1824, and there she was married to Charles Huff. They came west and settled at Cerro Gordo in 1861, and since that time she has made her home in that village. Her husband died fifteen years ago. She is survived by seven children: James M. and George Huff of Decatur, Mrs. John Creighton, Mrs. George Groves, and Mrs. Henry Zinn of Cerro Gordo, Mrs. T. M Conover of San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Samuel Edgecomb of Oklahoma.
The deceased was a member of the Christian church and was beloved by all who knew her for her gentle kindly ways and her willingness to lighten the burdens of all who were in trouble and she will be missed by many outside of her immediate family. No arrangements for the funeral have been made, communications being wanted from distant members of the family.
