Biography

Everett Fern "Bill" McQueen was born on September 16, 1908, in Blanket, Brown County, Texas, USA, to father, John Carl McQueen (1877-1968), and to mother, Margaret Emma (Brewster) McQueen (1882-1951).^[1][2]

In 1920, even at age 11, Bill helped work on his family farm.^[3]

On June 3, 1928, Bill married Mattie Jewel McDonough in Tom Greene, Texas, USA.^[4]

Research

Bill's sister, Irma, married Warren Williamson McDonough. There is a question as to whether, Warren and Bill's wife, Mattie Jewel McDonough are related.

By 1930, Bill and Mattie had settled in Brownwood, Brown County, Texas.^[5] They had the following children together:

1. son, Everett Fern McQueen, Jr.
2. son, Jim Bob McQueen
3. daughter, Mary Ann McQueen

In 1940, Bill was still living in Brownwood, Brown, Texas, and was working as a salesman for Dewey Weeden's Store. He had also registered for World War II.^[6][7]

By 1947, he was working as a fireman in Brownwood, Brown, Texas.^[8] The 1950 census shows that Bill and Mattie moved to live on the army base at Camp Hood, Bell, Texas, USA, where Bill had a job as the assistant Fire Chief.^[9]

Bill died on February 19, 1994, in Killeen, Bell, Texas, USA.^[10]
