Biography

Francis was born on January 22, 1902, in Missouri, to William and Anna King. ^{[1] [2] [3] [4]}

Francis was enumerated for the federal census on April 21 or 22, 1910. She was 8 years old at this time, and was living with mother Anna, siblings Ellis, Virginia, Harriet, Effie, and Edna, and uncle John King, in Jackson Township, Maries County, Missouri. She was attending school, but it was noted that she was not yet able to read or write. ^[1]

On March 23, 1919, Francis was married to Ulysses Gargus in Wesco, Missouri, when she was 17 years old. ^[5]

Francis was enumerated for the federal census on January 30, 1920. She was 18 years old at this time, and was living with husband Ulysses in Meramec Township, Crawford County, Missouri. By this time, she was able to read and write. ^[2]

Francis was enumerated for the federal census on April 25, 1930. She was 28 years old at this time, and was living with husband Ulysses, and children Grant and Audrae, in Meramec Township, Crawford County, Missouri. She was a homemaker. ^[3]

Francis died of myocarditis on April 29, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was buried on April 30, 1936, in Buffalo Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri. ^[4]
