When Sarah B King was born on January 24, 1838, in Wilkinson, Georgia, her father, John Jehu King, was 31, and her mother, Mary Elizabeth Polly Goddy, was 27. She married John Warren Cross on May 14, 1854, in her hometown. They had four children during their marriage. She died as a young mother in 1863 in Union, Arkansas, at the age of 25, and was buried in Strong, Arkansas.
