Biography

Luciano Jannazzo is the son of Biagio Jannazzo, age 39 (b. 1804), agricola, and Rosalia Cascio, age 33 (b. 1810). He is born 14 January 1844 in Corleone. This birth is reported by Biagio himself. No street address is given. Luciano is baptized the same day. His godparents are Antonino di Miceli and Lucia Carrabba, a married couple.

His brother's birth record, from 1847, gives conflicting age information, as reported by the midwife, Francesca Paola de Luca, resulting in as much as an eleven year age difference in their mother, Rosalia, and nine for their father, Biagio.

Luciano marries at least twice, first to his first cousin, Angela Gennaro on 8 September 1872 in Corleone. It is the first marriage for either of them.

The Church record of their marriage is dated the next day. As on other records in this volume, it is written that there was no impediment found to either of them marrying. In this record there is also the note that there is a dispensation for their marriage, due to consanguinuity. Angela's mother, Lucia Cascio, and Luciano's mother, Rosalia (sometimes called Rosa), are sisters.

Luciano and Angela have at least one child, Rosalia (c. 1873), also called Rosa, after her paternal grandmother.

Angela dies at age 21, on 26 February 1875. Her husband and parents survive her.[1]

Luciano remarries the same year, to Angela Anzalone, daughter of the late Don Salvatore Anzalone and Donna Marianna Spinella, on 3 June 1875.[2]

Luciano and his second wife have at least one child, Salvatore (c. 1880), named after his maternal grandfather.

Rosa marries Bernardo Giuseppe Mario Milone on 30 September 1891.[3]

Salvatore marries Clementina Cannella on 22 October 1900. His mother has died by this time.[4]
